Transforming Talk

About

A therapist who sits in the co-pilot’s seat

Online psychotherapy and counselling built on equality, trust and your own sense of direction.
Paul Reisbach, therapist and founder of Transforming Talk

My story

Hello, my name is Paul. I started out as a youth worker twenty-five years ago. Over time I became more and more aware of mental health struggles in the young people I worked alongside, and that led me to retrain as a psychotherapist. I’ve now worked with mental health in the community for over ten years.
The approach I use is called transactional analysis (TA). I’m fond of it because it emphasises equality between client and therapist. TA helps you understand yourself better and, as a result, feel more in control of your life.
You are the pilot. I’m the co-pilot in your plane.
Most of us fly on autopilot most of the time. Some people have an autopilot that copes with almost anything. For many of us, what brings us to therapy is a sense that something isn’t working quite right. In our sessions you stay at the controls while we learn together how your plane works. The aim is that you know it well enough to fly through any weather, good or bad, without needing me.

Get in touch

Hi, I’m Paul and I offer counselling and psychotherapy online and face to face, as well as walk and talk sessions out here in Devon.

If you’re working through anxiety, depression or struggling to regulate your thoughts, feelings and emotions, therapy can make a real and lasting change in your life.

I see clients from a wide range of ages and backgrounds, including those with neurodiversity, such as dyslexia and ADHD.

If you’d like to know more about how therapy can make a real and lasting change in your life, please do get in touch for a free consultation.

My mission

To help you feel better in how you live your life, in a place where you can be heard and seen without judgement.
I place great importance on the relationship between us. It’s through a trusting therapeutic relationship that healthy, lasting change happens. Whether you’re coping with stress, depression or low self-esteem, I want you to emerge healthier, happier and with a greater understanding of your own mental health and processes.

What makes my approach different

Equality in the room

TA treats you as an equal partner in the work. I’m not here to hand down answers. We explore together.

You keep the controls

The goal isn’t to keep you coming back. It’s that you understand yourself well enough to take full control.

Flexible ways to meet

Online, face to face in Exeter, or outdoors on a walk and talk. Some people simply find it easier to speak side by side.

Understanding from experience

I’m dyslexic myself, and I’m keen to support neurodivergent people whose path through life doesn’t always feel compatible with the wider world. I also care about reducing the shame around abuse, particularly for men.

What I can help with

I work with both women and men, on a range of concerns including:
