Transforming Talk

Therapy for men

A straightforward place for men to talk

If you’ve never spoken to anyone before, or you’re not sure therapy is really for you, that’s a common place to start. We work out together what you want to change, and you decide the pace.

What men often bring

How I work

I use transactional analysis, which is practical and goal-focused. We agree a clear contract for what you want from therapy, so you can see where the work is heading. You stay in the pilot’s seat. I’m the co-pilot: no lectures, no judgement, and no expectation that you arrive knowing what to say.

Side by side, not face to face

Many people find it easier to talk while walking. Walk and talk sessions take place on quiet countryside footpaths just east of Exeter, after a couple of online sessions to get started.

Prefer to stay put? Sessions are also online across the UK or in therapy rooms in central Exeter.

Questions men ask

Do I have to talk about my childhood?

Only if it’s useful to you. We’ll look at patterns, some of which may go back a long way, but you choose what we explore and when.

How many sessions will I need?

There’s no set number. Some people get what they need in a handful of sessions; others work over a longer period. We review it together.

My partner thinks I should come. Can they get in touch?

I can only take enquiries from the person who wants therapy. They’re welcome to pass on my details, but the first contact needs to come from you.

How much do sessions cost?

The first 30-minute chat is free. After that, sessions are £60 for 50 minutes, online, face to face in Exeter or walk and talk.
