Many of the adults I work with are neurodivergent, most often with ADHD, dyslexia or dyspraxia, though I’m not limited to those. You don’t need a diagnosis to get in touch, and you won’t be asked to fit a mould.
What people often bring
Sometimes it’s the neurodivergence itself: making sense of a recent or late diagnosis, or years of being told you weren’t trying hard enough. More often it’s everything around it.
Burnout, overwhelm and the cost of masking
Anxiety, low mood and self-criticism
Work, study and relationships that feel harder than they should
Rejection sensitivity and conflict
Understanding your own patterns, not just managing them
What a colleague says
“I highly recommend Paul, especially to neurodivergent clients, as he understands the way neurodiversity intersects with other life experiences.” R.M, colleague
How sessions can adapt
We agree how we’ll work at the start, and we can change it as we go. Some things clients have found helpful:
A predictable structure
The same time each week, a clear start and finish, and no surprises about what happens next.
Camera on or off
Online, if eye contact or being on screen gets draining, we can agree to turn cameras off for part of a session when it helps.
Key points in writing
If it helps you hold on to what we covered, I can email you a brief, confidential note of the main themes. Only if you’d like one.
Room to move
Fidget, pace or take a pause. Or try walk and talk, where we talk side by side on quiet footpaths just east of Exeter.
Why transactional analysis fits
TA uses plain, visual models to make sense of how you think, feel and relate. Many people find it easier to work with something concrete than with open-ended talk.
It starts with a clear contract: what you want to change, in your words. That gives the work a shape you can see.
And it puts us on an equal footing. You stay in the pilot’s seat, and the aim is understanding your patterns, not fixing who you are. Read more about TA.
Questions people ask
Do I need a diagnosis?
No. Whether you’re diagnosed, waiting for an assessment or simply wondering, you’re welcome.
Can you assess or diagnose me?
No. Diagnosis needs a specialist clinical assessment. I can talk through what you’re noticing and help you think about routes to an assessment.
What if I find the first contact hard?
The contact form only asks for a few lines. In the free chat, you can ask anything about how sessions run before deciding.
How much do sessions cost?
The first 30-minute chat is free. After that, sessions are £60 for 50 minutes, online across the UK, face to face in central Exeter, or walk and talk.
